Cycling improvements at Westwood Road, Thanet

Kent Highway Services are proposing to close a gap in Thanet’s cycle path network by extending the existing cycle path beside Westwood Road as part of highway changes along the road. We encourage you to write in favour of this scheme by filling in the questionnaire supplied in the consultation documents, emailing traffic.schemes@kent.gov.uk making it clear that you’re referring to this scheme, or writing to KCC Highways and Transportation, Traffic Schemes & MHF Team, Ashford Highway Depot, Henwood Industrial Estate, Javelin Way, Ashford, Kent, TN24 8AD. The consultation closes on 12 March 2012.

Big Wheel of Kent maps and guides now online

Maps and guides are now online for the free Big Wheel of Kent cycle event on Sunday 13th June:

The Folkestone to Canterbury map and guide will be online in the next few days.

Pyson’s Road cycle and pedestrian improvements

March 4th, 2010

Kent Highway Services are currently consulting on a new pedestrian and cycle safety scheme along Pyson’s Road in Thanet. The plans are to increase the side of the pedestrian / cycle crossing islands, widen the cycle / foot paths, and install a couple of bollards to prevent parking on the cycle path. Comments from the public are requested by 23rd April. Here’s a map of the current facilities.
